Overcoming the struggle to Pray!

Overcoming the struggle to Pray!

                                                                               - Good Morning Holy Spirit - Daily Devotion

Good Morning Friend, it is such a joy and a privilege to write this post. Though being a child of God, are you facing the biggest struggle of talking to Him consistently? You might be hearing over and over again the significance & the power of prayer through various modes but are you still battling with it? We struggle to pray when we stop believing our prayers really matter. We shall contemplate the aspects of prayer here and I pray that Holy Spirit will help you and guide you in HIS everlasting truth and bring a transformation in your prayer life that brings forth the intimacy in walking with God!

Why are not you able to have a lifestyle of prayer?

o    Slothfulness - Your spirit is willing but body is tired, so are you postponing the prayer time or rushing up your time with God in few words?
o    Scuffle - Have you been unable to formulate the words and scuffle during prayer time?
o    Self-assurance – You certainly believe God is watching over you and nothing happens without His knowledge. Therefore, do you possess an attitude of why should I ask Him anyways He will do the way He thinks which will be for my good. Have you been there?

Nevertheless, let us see what the word of God teaches us to overcome the struggle of praying:

o    Be Watchful – Jesus told his disciples that we have to watch and pray so that we will not fall into temptation. Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41”
In another incident, Jesus taught his disciples on praying persistently through the parable. “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” Luke 18: 1”. Read Luke 18: 1-8. Hence, it is important for us (the disciples of Jesus) to watch and pray and not give up.
o    Be Thankful - Psalmist says, “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. Psalm 118:1”. If someone is good to you, would you not take time to say thanks and be grateful for their help? I’m also sure you would want to build a relationship with them. Then how much more we should be thankful to God who created us in a unique fashion, blessed us in everything more than ever we could have asked for, protecting us from every possible destruction and in addition HE has a greater plan & purpose for our life to be a blessing for others. So let us learn to exercise with a heart of gratitude rather than complaining during prayer time.
o    Be Excited – Supposedly, if a great person might be a man of God (Could be your head pastor), is planning to visit your home. How much you would be excited and be prepared to welcome him. Praying is talking to King of Kings, Lord of Lords and your eternal father. Know whom you are meeting and talking to during your prayer time. It is written, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3. Does this not sufficient for you to get excited about your hour of prayer?
o    Be Aware – It is momentous to have awareness of our prayer time purpose. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6. So pray every time without ceasing. Stay blessed and keep praying !! :-)

In Christ Alone,
Justina Stephen
